It is with sadness that the Anactorial Office of Digital Infrastructure & Communications announces the shutting down of Encyclopædia Græciæ, the official Græcian wiki.
While the wiki started as a dissident migration project in March AD 2023, it evolved into a much larger fantasy project and pass-time. Today, on AUC 2779.03.03. the Office received a notification that somebody attempted to log in into His Anactorial Majesty's account multiple times with no success. This raised alarms, as it was instantly seen as the continuation of the harassment and personal attacks on Græcia in general and His Anactorial Majesty in particular, leading to the suspension of a suspect in late February. Although initially a stronger password was created, the Office discussed with His Anactorial Majesty and arrived at the conclusion that the individual(s) harassing Græcia will not stop trying to undermine the wiki and its content. As a result, a hard decision was made: to request the deletion of Encyclopædia Græciæ from the Stewards of Miraheze, the hosting service. Encyclopædia Græciæ had a good run for 3 years, with a handful of Græcian allies joining the project for their own reasons, which were aligned with the original purpose of the wiki. A brief statement by His Anactorial Majesty: "One or more people with an unhealthy obsession over myself, my micronation and my activities inside and outside micronationalism have crossed yet another line: after successfully isolating my wiki from the world in terms of account creation, I thought the madness was over – until we were hit with an unpredicted move: someone deranged enough attempted multiple times to log into my account on the wiki; thankfully they were unsuccessful. This occurred during work hours, which proves to me whoever mocked me for editing my wiki during those hours certainly went into a lot of trouble to leave what they were doing at work – assuming they are employed at all – and attempt to log in multiple times. What they probably aimed at was gaining access to the account for 3 hours, wreak enough havoc for me to clean up and feed whatever lies in their brain. Although bending the knee to bullies is not the solution, I'm afraid I don't see how they will stop harassing me unless I concede my "defeat" and request the deletion of my wiki. Although I will seek other ways to keep track of my vast archive, it is now clear that it is time to move on from Encyclopædia Græciæ, even by being forced to close it to protect both my sanity and my work. I sincerely hope God forgives your trespasses and that you find peace knowing that you won and the wiki is now obsolete". The bilateral treaty of recongition and diplomatic relations between Græcia and Rhomalia, originally de facto initiated on AUC 2775.10.23. and de jure signed on AUC 2775.11.07. with the Republic of Lesia and Karduna, subsequently known by many names (Republic of Lesia and Takáya, Federative Nikolovist Republic of Lesia and Karduna, Union of Senland) and lastly as the Kingdom of Rhomalia, has officially been annulled, following a formal request by His Majesty King Serafim Volov. His Majesty requested to "cut off diplomatic relations with the Anactoria of Græcia for the time being", without further explanation. His Majesty concluded with the following declaration: "also we are taking Simeonovgrad back". Rather than fight back or ask for details, His Anactorial Majesty accepted his former ally's request under the following terms: permanently cutting off diplomatic relations, unconditional handing control over Simeonovgrad effective immediately, and stripping Serafim Volov off his honourary citizenship, which also means no more diplomatic immunity and status, which allowed visa-free entry, adoption of diplomatic license plates, and other perks. A brief statement by His Anactorial Majesty Quintus II De Vitaliis: "Friendships in the micronational world are hardly forged, despite the convenience of internet communication. One friend who has stood out all these years has been known by many names, lately Rhomalia. As Rhomalia and its predecessor states have been close friends and allies to Græcia, so has Serafim Volov been a friend to myself. A passionate micronationalist with a vision, but prone to periodic radical changes to his micronation, yapping about fantasy scenarios, spamming and trolling – the last two leading to his temporary muting on Græcia's Discord server. Despite the good relations and lack of feud between either side, Serafim has been spamming my personal messages with random questions, memes, fantasy scenarios related to his real life classmates, an overall exhausting situation with a large amount of information no normal person can absorb or even maintain, unless they come from his own brain. As sad as it is to cut ties with a fellow micronationalist, sometimes it is worth taking a step back and acknowledging when a cycle has ended. Græcia will forever be grateful to both Serafim's contributions and Rhomalia's consistent friendship; yet it is time to move on. I would like to personally wish Serafim Volov good luck in his real life and future micronational endeavours, longevity and prosperity to Rhomalia, and that may our paths never cross again in the future". As part of the treaty's dissolution, the Simeonovden Accord, signed on 1 September 2023 and amended on 21 October 2024, has expired effective immediately. With the accord's expiration, control over Simeonovgrad officially returns to its rightful owner, Rhomalia.
The cyber harassment on Græcia began on 31 January AD 2026, when someone created an account on Encyclopædia Græciæ, the Græcian wiki hosted on Miraheze, under the username "Græcian Ultranationalist". This individual, whose micronational on-line presence was presumed to be inactive until today, created an article on a so-called "Hypergræcia", mocking both His Anactorial Majesty and the micronation in general. They produced a total of 6 edits: a blank article titled "2JP2TB" (whatever that means; our tech experts assume the first 2 means "too" and the second 2 means "to"), the mock micronation titled "Hypergræcia", two redirects to this and two incoherent articles; one in Chinese with profanity, the other in Hebrew with a cryptic text. Modeled on Hyperborea, this article accuses Græcia of "southern decadence, pseudo-classicism, and artificial territorialism", placing this fictional entity's "independence" somewhere in AD 2024 and also references some nonsense "incident" a year later. All three accusations are laughable and shan't be refuted for this is a work of pure fiction. Self-defined as an "anti-Græcian project", the entity appears to call Græcia "democratic", a characterisation that never fit this or the previous state since the establishment of Græcia in AD 2020. The article continues with a boring and incoherent "founding narrative", an equally puzzling section on geography (especially the part where it confuses the North with the South Pole, evident by the writer's lack of knowledge on where penguins live -- a pattern repeated with a reference to a "penguin cult" later on), and a paragraph with a blatant accusation that Grcia lacks "climate", "spirituality" and "aesthetic". Hypergræcia is then described as the "fundamental adversary" of the… Governorate of Græcia, a state that ceased to exist on 20 August AD 2025 – "I guess the perpetrator didn't get the memo", a high ranking official said. The parody calls criticism "southern noise" and wraps the theatrics with a "core maxim": "All civilizations decline southward". "Admittedly, it is funny seing someone go to great lengths to mock a micronational state that persevered for 5 years and endured hostility and undermining propaganda. While silly, the structure provided a funny read that, if someone ignores the fact that tried to pass itself as a legitimate part of the wiki (see redirects to the Provisional Government and Anactoria article placeholders), could easily be nominated for parody of the year. I'd say 'kudos', but following what happened next, I am in no mood to contact this individual ever again". ~His Anactorial Majesty Quintus II De Vitaliis The individual, after creating the blank article on 31 January and Hypergræcia's articles and junctions on 3 February, went silent for a couple of days, as his "work" flew under the radar. On 11 February, he posted two more articles. The now-deleted articles were written in Chinese and Hebrew respectively. The former, titled "Black Chinese", contained various obscene words, profanity and among other things, the phrase "glory to Yugoslavia". The latter, titled "Get up, please", contained some Hebrew poetry of unknown origin, with reference to Gamaliel. The alarming incident was noticed on 20 February AD 2026, when a wiki editor noticed the link to Græcia's article on the homepage now read "Hypergræcia". An investigation was promptly launched, which yielded two suspects, both of which were cleared within a couple of days. The matter was forwarded to Miraheze administration as a CheckUser request to the Stewards, who proceded to globally lock the account after short deliberation. Although it looked like everything went back to normal, something was still brewing underneath… A couple of hours after the global block, a new account was registered, this time named "Hypergræcian Nationalist". Between 00:10 and 00:32 (GMT+02:00), they made a total of 9 edits that shifted from mild vandalism to harassment and targeting. The vast majority (8/9) were vandalisms (7/9 wiki templates, country data of Canadian provinces and territories; 1/9 placeholder article for the Provisional Government of Græcia). 7/8 were some form of ASCII "art": the famous Austrian painter proclaiming glory to Græcia, "amogus", trollface, "I love Morbius" (outdated meme), wojak pointing, smiley screaming "let's f…ng gooo" and… a noose. The odd one out was a "meme" copypasta. Although the majority are harmless and funny, the noose – as if asking the receiving end to perform self deletion – and the next part were perceived by His Anactorial Majesty as serious threats, harassment and unwarranted targeting. The straw that broke the camel's back was a 4chan-formatted message that appeared to paint His Anactorial Majesty as a "brainless, idle person with a lot of free time", quoting his wiki edits as "proof" that he "makes edits on a fantasy wiki all day long". "What I do with my time, free or otherwise, is nobody's business but mine. Judging by the timestamps it is no secret I have done edits at work, as it helps reduce my stress levels and sharpen my focus on the tasks at hand. Other than this explanation, I owe none to nobody, especially trolls". ~His Anactorial Majesty Quintus II De Vitaliis According to official sources, had the troll not crossed the line – not once, but twice! – this would all have been branded as another nonsensical harassment. The edits were noticed on 27 February AD 2026, during a routine check of the wiki's recent changes. Two and two were instantly put together, as the person responsible is well versed in meme culture, with references pointing to a certain person of interest, who happens to not only be a micronationalist, but also a supposed Græcian ally. Out of respect for the now suspended alliance, and until proof beyond doubt, the state will not reveal the individual's identity. The user "Hypergræcian Nationalist" was reported to the Miraheze Stewards as a Global request, with clear reference to the other user and the initial incident that was taken care of by the wiki hosts. A spokesman of the Græcian Anactorial Gendarmerie has issued the following brief statement: "The Anactoron will not tolerate direct attacks on the Anax, his kin, the state and the people of Græcia. By provoking His Anactorial Majesty with a veiled threat and a mockery of the expansion of the Encyclopædia Græciæ to an equally micronational and fictional, non-micronational wiki, the perpetrator has effectively revealed his lurking habits to the Græcian digital division. With that said, a key suspect has been identified. While their identity will remain protected, the state has agreed to take pre-emptive measures in order to safeguard the integrity of Græcian diplomacy and the safety of the micronation's citizens. Although there might be no attempt for retaliation in the future, it is almost certain that the suspect will neither admit his guilt, nor stop harassing His Anactorial Majesty, since it is our opinion they find this situation amusing. The Anactorial Gendarmerie's estimate is that no official pardon will ever be issued". As a result, and until official pardon, the following actions are in effect:
Through our New Year's wishes on Twitter, the state officially bade farewell to the identity of the Governorate with an ever so tiny detail: the red and blue gradient on the bottom half of 2026, symbolising the transition to a new era that already began in August. The rising phoenix always reminds us of new beginnings and as this new year begins, so does a new era for Græcia: the Anactoria. Our card was adorned on its dexter side with a meander, an ancient Hellenic geometrical symbol, while the sky blue background features a striped pattern with a slightly darker blue shade. Although Græcia still officially follows the Roman calendar (annō Urbis conditæ), which makes this year AUC 2779 (MMDCCLXXIX), this year we focused solely on Annō Dominī 2026 and its equivalent Hellenic numeral (͵βκϛʹ), in stead of the Roman MMXXVI. Despite the multi-ethnic character of the Græcian identity, we ought to remember our roots and core of the micronation: Hellenism – hence the simplification. As final act of the previous year, Anactoria of Græcia established a new theme in the United Kingdom, with one location in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, England, and one pending to be established. The Theme of Albion is currently headquartered in the Basileion of Saxonton. Albion will be the only Græcian Theme with two heads: Strategos Lucianus II and Lady Sophia-Diamantē will share power. Lucianus was also appointed as basileus of Saxonton, while Sophia-Diamantē's role will be determined as soon as her portion is established. Flags, symbols etc. will become publicly available in due course. Following this message is an announcement by His Royal Majesty Anax Græcōrum Quintus II De Vitaliis: "The year we left behind had its ups and downs, including permanent a ban from MicroWiki, a fresh start in DoveArchives, and many personal challenges outside micronationalism. We would like to believe the changes brought by the new regime will finally put to bed wild rumours, accusations, mis- and disinformation regarding myself, my most trusted consuls, and our micronation in general – if not, I'm afraid there is nothing more we can and are willing to do; and I believe I speak on behalf of every single factor involved in Græcian politics.
As the world does not revolve around our micronation, so does it not revolve around others as well. Once again, I needn't remind the world what happens inside Græcia and affects Græcians does not concern third parties who are not directly affected; and as Græcians have never demanded other micronations to conform with our needs outside Græcian zones, such as the official Discord server, we demand the same courtesy not only from our allies, but from third parties as well. Now that we have once again repeated our clarification, allow me to proceed with my final thoughts for the year to come: happy New Year, may God bring us all good health above all, joy, stability, peace and all that is good. Græcia's plans for this year are focused on wiki maintenance in both Encyclopædia Græciæ and DoveArchives, as well as presence to MES 2026 in Brno, the Czech Republic – God willing. I am planning to visit as a Græcian delegate, accompanied by the delegate of Loutrakion Hill and one of Græcia's most valued officials: Ioannis Kornaros. God bless you all". ~Quintus II De Vitaliis Græcia national football team was invited to join CMFA on AUC 2777.07.01. (1 July AD 2024) by the organisation, an invitation gladly accepted by the Sports Administration of Græcia, given the prospect of hosting the inaugural edition of the Micronational Football World Cup. The last time CMFA contacted our side was on AUC 2777.07.07. (7 July AD 2024), when the organisation announced Græcia's admission to the confederation.
Time passed quickly and by the time Græcia finished hosting the Hellenistic Football Cup on AUC 2778.06.30. (30 June AD 2025), there were no news regarding CMFA's plans for their tournament. To make things worse, not only did CMFA not create a wiki article anywhere on the internet indicating the organisation's existence and plans; their last tweet was posted on AUC 2777.07.19. (19 July AD 2024), merely 12 days after Græcia's membership was granted. Quintus II De Vitaliis, Chairman of the Sports Administration of Græcia, attempted to contact CMFA on AUC 2778.07.06. (6 July AD 2025), a day before Græcia's first anniversary as a member of the organisation, demanding answers regarding CMFA's plans, as Græcia's priority was to know first and foremost which micronation was granted the right to organise the tournament. Equally important were our plans for our next friendly matches, which were sadly postponed, given the transitional period Græcia entered until the micronation's 5th anniversary. De Vitaliis attempted to contact CMFA one last time, exactly one month later, on AUC 2778.08.06. (6 August AD 2025) to no avail. The board of the Sports Administration expressed its concerns to the Chairman, who had to acknowledge that CMFA was given an ultimatum until AUC 2778.09.06. (6 September AD 2025) to respond to Græcia's lawful inquiries; otherwise, Græcia would declare unilateral withdrawal from the organisation, citing: "[...] it would be pointless to pursue membership in an inactive organisation that never intended to organise anything". Enough time has passed and naturally, no response has been generated by CMFA officials, whose radio silence spans back to their final tweet. As a result, effective immediately, one day before reaching 17 months as a member of CMFA, the Sports Administration of Græcia announces the national football team's unilateral withdrawal from CMFA. A brief statement by Ioannis Tarpinidis, member of the board of SAG: "It is with utmost regret that we have reached this decision. We don't mean to slander the people behind CMFA, as maybe their ambitions were a little too high or maybe real life was more demanding and other priorities were at stake. Whatever lies before the veil of truth, it is important to acknowledge that the Sports Administration of Græcia is committed in exploring our sports teams' options and broadening their horizons. We as an entity decided after much deliberation that we've given too much time and thought on CMFA and its plans. Being FIIFA members and participants of the Hellenistic Football Cup is more than enough – it only made sense to withdraw, the more we discussed the matter at hand. We would like to thank CMFA for their invitation and acceptance of our bid to organise the 2025 Micronational Football World Cup and wish best of luck to the people behind the organisation in their future endeavours. We hope that one day the organisation will be active again and that there will be place for Græcia. Until then, we bid you farewell".
"As first order of business, it is my duty to inform you about the last decisions of the Senate, as well as the new platform upon which the Anactoria of Græcia will be operating. I'd like to begin from the most recent events, specifically the transitional period.
On AUC 2778.08.01. (1 August AD 2025), I issued a Gubernatorial Decree, which ratified the Senate's hard decision of disestablishment. I honoured the people's decision, especially given the huge impact the Senate has had on our state over the span of 5 years; a milestone not many micronations ever reach. The transition to the new regime went smoothly and quietly as planned on Græcia's 5th anniversary. It is regretful that our official channels were unable to let people know up until this point – as you may have guessed, personal matters did not leave much spare time for the on-line aspects of our micronation. The most important takeaway from the brief hibernation is the resumption of the Eponymous Archon's duties, who as of 20 Syther (August) is once again the head of government, now also acting as the equivalent of "regent", since Anax (or Wanax) is in fact a monarch. This puts an end to the term "geniocracy", one adopted by the old regime which reflected my desire for the promotion of smart and smarter people in favourable positions within our government. We also promised no changes to nomenclature and symbols during hibernation. It is with honour that I announce certain key changes:
Apart from the above mentioned changes, it's time I revealed the results of the Senate's discussions, that were part of the government's plan announced on AUC 2778.05.07. on the Newspaper.
The evaluation of the proposals was exhausting, but I am glad we were able as a whole to put our differences aside and co-operate, for the future of Græcia. I am proud of my advisors, who delivered a tough but fair ruling. And I am grateful for the people's trust. Other symbols, regalia, flags and arms will also be made available to the public at a later date, pending approval from the Anactorial Advisors. Our journey is not yet over. We are moving on, together." ~His Royal Majesty Anax Græcorum Quintus II De Vitaliis Nea Ionia, AUC 2778.08.01.
By Gubernatorial decree, the Senate's decision to be disestablished has been ratified effective immediately. Today, on AUC 2778.08.01. the honourable Senators voted for the abolishment of the Senate, in favour of the regime change that will be taking place, God willing, on Græcia's 5th anniversary (AUC 2778.08.20.). With the Senate's consent, we are entering a transitional period, which will have no effect to state symbols, nomenclature or other aspects. The powers of the Eponymous Archon are hereby temporarily suspended and nominally transferred to the Governor, who will only serve nominally as the head of government until this period is over. Themistoklis Savvas, the Speaker of the Senate issued the following short statement: "We the people of Græcia are proudly writing history with our collective decision; after months of deliberating on the matter, with numerous and lengthy debates, we have reached the conclusion that it is time to leave the political status quo behind. Among other things, the Senate's purpose does not align with the multinational character of Græcia, which is set to expand to other corners of Europe in the near future. As a result, it is crucial that we make the state's job easier by getting out of the way. We are not giving up our rights; we are simply paving the road for our micronation to advance, explore new options, and ultimately evolve. I would like to thank both Their Excellencies; the Eponymous Archon and The Governor for trusting us with this process. It was an honour serving Græcia as a civil servant and it will be my honour to pursue a new role in the future state of this wonderful micronation. God save Græcia!" Nea Ionia, AUC 2778.06.13.
The Græcian government has been following the latest developments in Austenasia with great concern over the present and future of this admirable micronation. Despite our state's neutral opinion on the Empire, given our relatively recent friction, we feel it is our duty to take a closer look at a situation that directly affects one of our own. The current Emperor of Austenasia, Angelos Imvrassios, is not only a respected individual with noticeable work at his home micronation, Imvrassia; he is also the head of government of Græcia, the Eponymous Archon. But he is more than just that: Angelos is an invaluable friend to our micronation, has been for a long time. Supportive, trustworthy, wise, and so much more. He earned his place among the elite of Græcia with his personal virtues as his sword. It is with ire that we watch certain parties display toxicity and produce slander against one of the most elegant diplomats the micronational community has seen. A rather contained and common feeling among Angelos' peers at Græcia, but last night we were forced to put our constraints aside and comment on an act of profound defamation, a quite frankly insulting piece of "news" posted on the Austenasian Times where, among other things, Angelos is described as the "former Emperor", a false claim that suggests the alleged article writer is rightfully claiming to protect the micronation from the otherwise completely legal and law-abiding government. The commentary will stop here. The Græcian government will be closely monitoring the ongoing situation. On behalf of the people of Græcia I, Quintus II De Vitaliis, would like to first and foremost our full support to the Emperor Angelos and his allies; our hope for stability and rapid de-escalation of the situation; and our disgust for those who dare slander our friend. We are on your side, Angelos! ~His Excellency The Governor Quintus II De Vitaliis The Government of Græcia is facing multiple challenges every day since the establishment of the Provisional Government: from simple things, such as social media maintenance, to more complex ones, such as the planning and execution of the Senate's discussions and decisions.
It is an effort that takes its toll: a time consuming, never-ending struggle to remember every aspect of the micronation that ought to be up to date, no matter the frequency. Extra help is out of the question, as the micronation of Græcia was established based on principles that exclude the involvement of third parties, unless maintenance of order is deemed necessary – as was the case when the office of the Eponymous Archon had to be established. As we've entered the second quarter of the year, it is only reasonable that we find a transparent enough way of announcing to the world the government's plans, as close to the end of this quarter, we will be celebrating Græcia's 5th anniversary. The Senate has been discussing various topics for a long time now and we've finally narrowed down to a list of points to be addressed sooner or later. We hereby present you with the 8 most important plans for this quarter, in order to prepare for Q3, the most important quarter of this year:
The Government hopes to evaluate these goals within this month and achieve the majority, if not all of them before Syther 20 (20 August). For each plan, the Senate is required to hold at least three discussions and an equal number of polls, which will determine the status of each point and how the government will proceed. Following the evaluation of the Senate's shortlist, we will begin the process of the final scrutiny, which will enable the Senate to start polling. On AUC 2777.10.18. (18 October AD 2024), the Governorate of Græcia nominally claimed control over a former Crown Dependency of the Empire of Austenasia, located in Montenegro: Jovanovo. It was renamed to "Sveti Jovan", in honour of Saint John the Forerunner.
Today, on AUC 2778.03.15. (15 March AD 2025), almost 5 months since the establishment of the borough, New Yugoslavia Voivodeship has agreed to relocate the claim, without a change of names or symbols. Therefore, Græcia will cease its nominal control over any territory located in Montenegro, as our micronation is not tied to the country physically-speaking. From now on, the Borough of Sveti Jovan will be relocated in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the zone of influence of the Borough of Sarajbosna. No comment has been issued by Græcian officials. |
